behind the dressage & breeding stable

In 2021, Kathleen Tveter - van Winden and Arne Tveter started their own stable, focused on breeding and training dressage horses. They are supported by Arne's parents, Jolanda and Einar, who are passionate about equestrian sport as well. The name 'Noordenwind' stems from the Norwegian roots of the Tveter family combined with Kathleen's surname.
Animal welfare is paramount at Hoeve Noordenwind. The stables have a free range area and all horses can go outside in groups every day and all year round. There is plenty of shade in the summer and during bad weather the animals have the opportunity to seek shelter in a spacious, clean stables. Each animal is viewed individually when it comes to management and receives high-quality nutrition based on all-day roughage.
Horses are trained with patience and are introduced to riding in a pleasant way. When we train young horses, we take the skeletal development of the horse into consideration and are careful not to ask too much, both physically and mentally. This way, in combination with a well-considered breeding policy, we want to produce the winners of tomorrow.
History
Hoeve Noordenwind is located on the Dulderstraat in Oud Gastel, a village in West Brabant, the Netherlands. The location has a rich history. The characteristic farm was built in 1900 and consisted of a large farmhouse, a bake house, and a large barn. The bake house that originally stood in the yard was destroyed during the Second World War, but fortunately the rest of the beautiful location has withstood the test of time. The plot was purchased in 2021 and we are currently working hard to rebuild and renovate the house and the stables.

Kathleen van Winden
Kathleen is originally from Spijkenisse, a suburb of Rotterdam, and has had a passion for horses from an early age. She started at a riding school at the age of seven. In her youth she participated in both showjumping and dressage competitions, but eventually focused on the latter. She wanted to turn her hobby into a profession and obtained her ORUN instruction degree level 4. After starting her college education in Animal and Livestock Farming at Van Hall and Larenstein, she continued her career at Stal Van Silfhout, where she gained a lot of experience as a competition groom. Today she accompanies Paralympic champion Sanne Voets during international competitions and trains several pupils. At Hoeve Noordenwind she mainly deals with the daily management of the horses and trains a number of animals.
Arne Tveter
Arne, born near Rotterdam in Rozenburg, is not only a horse lover, but also a man with a business background. After finishing his per-university education, he studied Business Administration at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. After this he went to Nyenrode University and obtained his Master in Science in Management. Arne comes from a athletic family; almost every day, the Tveters were present at the local track. Arne was a talented mid-long distance runner and set fast times during his Junior period. When he left for college, sport became less of a priority, but the knowledge he picked up on how to build endurance, strengthening muscles and training schedules is still useful today when he trains horses. Within the company he is mainly active behind the scenes and takes care of the business aspect. He also assists in the stable and, together with his father, takes care of the maintenance of the premise. Because of his experience in the construction sector, almost no DIY project is too big for him. He also helps a lot from the ground when training the horses.
The entrepreneurs
The founders of Hoeve Noordenwind are Kathleen Tveter - van Winden and her husband Arne Tveter. They pair met in 2009. A combination of Kathleen's experience within the equine sector and Arne's skills in business administration and management ensures that they complement each other perfectly.
We are currently working hard to create an even better living environment for our horses. Wooden fence work has already been installed and part of the stables have been renovated. Open stalls were chosen, which provides more space and freedom of movement when the horses are in the stable.
The safety of the horses has been taken into account in the design of the stables, paddocks and pastures. For example, the luxurious fronts of the mares stables, produced by Smulders Stable Construction are fitted with bars placed closer together, so that a foal's foot can never get stuck in them. The corners of the paddocks are rounded to reduce the risk of injury during play. Also is the old arena has been replaced for a drained one with a top sports footing, provided by V&R Equestrian Footing, in order to train optimally.
A well-thought-out design bundled with high-quality and sustainable materials makes Hoeve Noordenwind the ultimate place for horses to develop, but we're not done yet! In the near future we will expand the facilities further.
