Stoeterij Noordenwind is a rearing barn with high standards in every respect. We offer premium housing for foals from 4 to 5 months to 2.5 years (longer in consultation). We have geared the accommodation and management as much as possible to the natural needs of the young horse. This looked at both the social and physical development of a foal, but certainly also at nutrition, safety and hygiene.

Indoor season

The foals are placed in small groups of 5 to 8 animals when they enter, based on age and sex. From October to April the horses are kept in large stables. This accommodation has an open ridge, which ensures good air circulation. The foals always have access to clean (and heated in winter) drinking water and high-quality roughage. In addition, they are fed with a unique chunk that is specifically tailored to our hay and the needs of the young horse in every phase of growth. The analysis and composition of the kibble is provided by the experts at Vente Paardenvoeding. The stables are mechanically mucked out and disinfected every 3 weeks, and are given a thick layer of straw every day.

"The foals are supplemented with auniquechunk that is specifically tailored to our hay and the needs of the young horse at every stage of growth. The analysis and composition of the chunk is provided by the experts ofVente Horse Food."

Because  freedom of movement contributes to the optimal development of the skeleton, the foals at Studfarm Noordenwind also have access to an outdoor area during the winter. . These sand paddocks are drained and provide a stable and dry surface. The corners of the paddocks are rounded and the curved fencing guides the horses so that they make the turn smoother. All this reduces the risk of injuries and contributes to a safer living environment for your foal.

Outdoor season

In the period from April to September, the foals are on more than 5 hectares of pasture land. These farmlands are directly adjacent to the company, so we can keep a close eye on the horses. The meadows are fenced off with secure fencing from VOSS Farmingwire and the soil is enriched with vitamins and minerals every year on the basis of a fertilization study. During the summer season there is regular towing and spraying. The foals receive all the vitamins and minerals they need by means of lick buckets and are fed with high-quality roughage if necessary.

Our beautiful plots are located on the Brabantse Wal. Due to this hilly landscape we have the possibility to graze the foals to high ground or low ground, depending on the weather conditions and soil quality. On hot summer days, the young horses can cool off in the shade under the trees.

"Every foal is assessed on arrival at the farm and its development is tracked in areport. When we estimate that an animal needs additional care, we immediately link this back to you so that we can discuss the best approach."

Prevention is better than cure. That is why we work together with veterinary specialists, nutritionists and a certified farrier to prevent any health problems. Every foal is assessed on arrival at the farm and the development is recorded in a report. When we estimate that an animal needs additional care, we immediately link this back to you so that we can discuss the best approach. Thanks to our camera system, you can follow your foal(s) remotely via a live stream. We keep you up to date!

The vision of Stoeterij Noordenwind is to give every foal the best possible start, so that they can start their sport career with a head start.
